About Us

Sydney’s Favourite Inner West Bike Store

Ashfield Cycles is a Specialized bike dealer and stocks a wide range of bikes, apparel, shoes and accessories, as well as servicing all types of bikes.

The business was established in 1978 by current owner John Michell. During those years John and his team have encouraged thousands of people to get fit and healthy by riding a bike.

Bikes have become lighter and faster and the gears and brakes have improved and mountain bikes and triathlon bikes have been added to the line-up. Plus, road bikes have become more and more popular.

The popularity of road bikes has led to Ashfield Cycles’ involvement with bike clubs like Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club and Lidcombe-Auburn Cycle Club (LACC) which Ashfield Cycles has sponsored for many years. Ashfield Cycles has also had a long history of association with local triathlon clubs and now is proud to announce our new partnership with Concord triathlon club. We would like to welcome all of their members to the Ashfield Cycles community.

John Michell

Owner

Proprietor John Michell started the business when he was just 25 years old, originally located on Parramatta Road at Ashfield. He relocated to Liverpool Road in the mid-1980s and has occupied the same premises ever since.

John grew up in the local area and was interested in bicycles for as long as he can remember. He started racing at the age of 14 with the local Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club and is now an active member and sponsor of the Lidcombe-Auburn Cycle Club.

John is passionate about cycling and has never lost his enthusiasm for bikes or for the local area, and enjoys helping others join him in his favourite past-time.

He has a collection of new and retro bikes.
